Three Friends Vow to Change

On reaching the wrong side of 50, we three friends have turned into plump, but strangely invisible, frumps.  This uncomfortable state was not thrust upon us by a sadistic wand-waving fairy.  It has taken years - slowly, imperceptibly, eating has become a lifestyle.  There was a time when meals were eaten between dashing here and there, leading a carefree life in a slim and healthy body.  Now food is an obsession - something to think about, plan and devour guiltily.

Hence this blog.  We three friends, in a vow to change, are now 'The Cocktail Girls' (CGs).  Why that name?  We wanted to take a fresh approach getting back into shape.  Instead of concentrating on eating or not eating, we would think about our future selves - how we will look, feel and what we will do.  The Cocktail Lounge is where we aim to celebrate the various stages of our transformation .

We met last week and made the decision not to follow a prescriptive diet - who needs them - the fact is we eat too much fat and sugar and move too little.  At our age we know every diet in the book and would have no problem writing our own.  Therefore we decided to do just that.   We would adjust what we eat and do, making small but significant changes, with the firm intention of seeing and feeling a change in our bodies over a phased period of time.  The first completed phase will be in six weeks.  The CGs look forward to sipping our first celebratory cocktail in the New Year.
